I've been reading how bad store bought cereal is for you due to the sugar content and how bad processed foods are for you body. I was looking for an alternative that tastes great and is super healthy. I came up with this recipe to make homemade cereal, granola and/or granola bars.
Ingredients:
- 7 cups quick oats
- 3 cups worth of any of these mixtures: sunflower seeds, sliced almonds, pumpkin seeds, coconut. (mix it however you want due to taste preference and expense.
- 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons of ginger
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla
- 1 stick of butter
- 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1 cup of water

Directions:
While the above is warming. Place the oats, mixtures, cinnamon, ginger into a mixing bowl or stand mixer. Mix the ingredients together.
Add the butter mixture to the dry mixture and mix. Press into a baking sheet by using the back of a spoon or your hands.
Cook for 70 minutes.
For granola bars cut out squares, for cereal you can pound it down to the desired size by using a ziplock bag and a rolling pin. For granola just use the cereal mixture and add to your favorite recipes.
When I serve my cereal I like to add blueberries and milk. Apples are also good.
